CCSN Achievements
The students at CCA and DHPH have a history of consistently scoring above both district and state averages in the CSAP. In the 2004-2005 school year, CCA's third grade class scored 100% proficient on the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) testing in reading and math and the fifth grade class scored 100% proficient in reading as well. Both the elementary and middle school programs are currently rated as “Excellent” by the Colorado Department of Education.
CCA has accomplished amazing results in several areas; from creating an integrated interdisciplinary curriculum to achieving 100% proficiency in several areas of CSAP testing. In addition, during the 2004 – 2005 school year every grade level at CCA exceeded the state performance levels in all subject content areas. The accomplishments of our students and staff are well recognized as Cesar Chavez Academy is becoming a model for national replication.
CCSN Student Achievement Goals
The primary goal of CCSN is to provide all CCSN students with an advanced and accelerated college preparatory educational program in a supportive and challenging learning environment. This goal operates as the primary tenet driving instructional and operational practices. Student performance goals are set with the end in mind – graduating students who will succeed and excel in a post-secondary environment. With this as our guide, goals are utilized at multiple levels to
guide instructional practice.
The goals set for CCSN incorporate our vision of student achievement and equity, in essence what we want to be true. All goals relate to increasing student achievement and serve to relate all practices back to the student.
Equity Goal: CCSN promotes an environment where all students feel successful and have increased achievement. This will be accomplished by continuing to:
- raise the level of rigor for all students by all staff members by raising expectations,
- strengthening the curriculum,
- improving student support services,
- aligning professional development to student achievement need areas,
- and using disaggregated data in order to improve the academic outcomes for all students.
CCSN Student Achievement Goals for all Grades:
- Students at CCSN schools will demonstrate longitudinal growth as defined by gaining one year’s growth in one year’s time.
- The percentage of students scoring proficient and advanced on CSAP will continue to increase each year.
- CCSN schools will continue to meet adequate yearly progress (AYP) targets for all disaggregated groups as measured by CSAP and defined by the Colorado Department of Education starting in year two and continuing every year after that.
- Reduce gaps in achievement – students below grade level should increase more than one year for each school year.
